Collage Requirements:
- create a composition based on
design principles using collage techniques.
- design will be completely made
using layers of handmade and commercial papers.
- should be based on Center of
Interest, Depth, Rule of Thirds, Dynamic Position and Variety.
- complete 8 preliminary sketches
for this design.
- final design will be chosen
from your preliminary sketches, and based on feedback from peers.
Design
Center of Interest, Depth, Rule of Thirds, Dynamic Position and Variety are key to create as students design this piece. Students will receive a handout that defines each of these design techniques. The final design must be original. Words, number and symbols may not be used.
Finishing
The piece should have no visible glue or loose pieces. A hanger must be attached to the back of the piece. It should meet all the requirements and fit one of the 3 themes.
Collage Composition Learning
Targets
-Students will create several handmade papers to use for collage
design.
-Students will apply design layout concepts to
a collage composition. The concepts include Center of Interest, Depth, Rule of
Thirds, Dynamic Positioning and Variety.
-Student
will apply the design layout concepts throughout the semester.

Evaluation
Students have 2 weeks to complete the piece. The final design will be graded on the creation of a Center of Interest, Depth, Rule of Thirds, Dynamic Positioning and Variety in the collage.
